I sculpted a wedding cape topper for my friends Billy and Meg. Scroll down to see the steps involved to create this custom piece!

1. The figures are roughed out with Castilene. Notice the helpful reference.

2. The finished clay.

3. The clay is cut into appropriate pieces for molding and a box is built around them. Wax sprues (dark green) are used to eventually provide a path for air to escape and liquid resin to flow through.

4. Additional pieces are placed in a seperate box.

5. Liquid silicone is poured into the boxes and left to cure. (Messy)

6. The rubber is cut in half and opened like a book. The original clay is removed leaving the negative form in the silicone. The mold is closed back up and liquid urethane is poured in.

7. The urethane is left to dry. The seperate pieces are cleaned of any parting lines and reassembled.

8. The plastic piece is then hand painted.
